No start menu or desktop shortcut is created when installing new games, even if the option to do so is checked.

Basically the client refuses to create icons for downloaded games saying that there is already an icon on the desktopwhich is false.

Obviously its not that difficult to create your own icons (which I have done for the time being), but its annoying.

Hopefully Valve devs will issue a fix for this annoyance soon.

The closest alternative would simply be Create Applications Shortcut, as this is the function that takes place.

It seems like adding it to the Dock may also be desirable, although Im not sure whether theres a public API for that.

Users can easily add the app to their Dock, or an alias to their desktop, from there.

I believe many users also use LaunchPad andor Spotlight to launch apps these days.

Applications never made any sense to me, and I dont want them all going to the desktop either.

Its truly remarkable that this issue has persisted for so long.
